Key points: Wardogs guns real life

  • The three faction starter rifles, the KH202, A91 and Bushmaster M17S, are real but rare, and only the M17S was ever obtainable in the US.
  • Jones rates the Tavor, Galil, FAL, MP9 and Vector reloads as accurate, including the charge-on-empty Galil and the FAL's bolt hold-open release.
  • The in-game MP5 seats a fresh magazine on a closed bolt; Jones says a full 30-round magazine can damage the feed lips or bolt, so lock the bolt back first.
  • The game loads the Mosin and SKS one round at a time instead of by stripper clip, which on the SKS means holding the bolt back by hand for every round.
  • He calls the in-game SAW reload wrong: no looking away for a cook-off, no feed tray check, and a belt pressed into a chamber that the bullet catch actually holds in place.
  • Suppressed sound is the weak spot, with the M4 close to real but the suppressed shotgun and some other guns sounding off; Jones offers to record real audio for the developers.
  • A World War I 1911 more than 110 years old still runs, while Jones dismisses the Desert Eagle and the Vector as guns rarely used in real life.

About this Gun Review video

Wardogs guns in real life: Garand Thumb's Mike Jones, a retired Air Force special warfare operator, fires the real-world versions of the new PMC shooter's arsenal, from the Tavor, Galil, FAL and M4 through the MP5, Vector and Glocks to a World War I 1911 and an M249 SAW. He grades each in-game model, sound and reload against the real gun. Most get his approval; the MP5 mid-mag reload, the SKS loading and the SAW belt change do not.
